Angola Music Awards 1st Phase Contestants Presented

Luanda — The organisers of the 2013 edition of the Angola Music Awards in the early hours of Saturday in Luanda presented the candidates for the national music contest in 25 categories, Angop learned.


Speaking to Angop on the fringes of the event, Nelson Mangueira, a member of the organisation, said this is the first edition of the "Angola Music Awards" (AMA ), whose purpose is the valorisation of the Angolan music, the promotion of new talentsand serve as a homage to creators and singers who have made the history of the country's music.


The categories for the Angola Music Award include gospel music, electronic album, acoustic album, female artistic voice of live band, best kizomba, best semba, best instrumentalist, music producer, DVD music and video clip.


The list includes DJ albums, afro beat house, best R& B, Rap hip hop, kuduro, popular music of southern Angola, popular music of eastern Angola, popular music of central Angola, female voice, revelation artist and music of the year.


Due to the high number of candidates, this year the organisation increased to five the number of candidates per category.


According to the organisation, the event intends to open a space for song writers and singers of the Angola Music Awards in all genre and promote exchange among the professionals around the country.


In the voting, 50 percent of the votes will come from the jury and another 50 percent will come from the public through Internet and SMS until July 31.

#BBATheChase: BOLT AND MARIA EVICTED

This week, Annabel, Bolt, Dillish, Hakeem, Maria and Natasha were on the chopping block and it was left to Africa to decide who stays. Africa saved Annabel, Dillish, Hakeem, Pokello and Natasha from possible Eviction while Sierra Loene’s Bolt and Namibia’s Maria were shown the exit door.


Bolt now has a chance to reunite with Ethiopia’s Betty who was Evicted in Week 4 and they can handle their businesses henceforth without the hawk eyes of the Big brother cameras. Perhaps Bolt won’t be so surprised as he has known all week that he was up for possible eviction tonight but for Maria, the story was quite different.A rather shocked Maria who has never been up for eviction looked on helplessly as the Diamond HOH for the week,Nando announced that he saved and replaced himself with Maria.Before the consequence of this switch could settle in,IK announced the eviction of the beautiful Namibian.









Once again Malawi’s Natasha and Zimbabwe’s Pokello survived the chopping block,Remember Natasha and has been up for eviction more times than any other housemates but luck keeps shinning on the Malawian and once again she can hang loose.

NEWS: MEET NIGERIAN ASPIRANT FOR MAYOR OF MICHIGAN

A young Igbo man, John Olumba, who is currently a State of Michigan House Representative is contesting for the post of Mayor in the City of Detroit, Michigan.


John, 31, is a lawyer and pastor and proudly Nigeria’s first man to be elected into state office since Michigan began to exist.


In a recent interview he stated that his father hails from Owerri in Imo State and he wants to lead the troubled city into an age of revival.


But he questions the record of some of the candidates. “Are we going to go with someone who’s been a part of the political establishment? Across the United States, part of the slogan was ‘forward.’ It’s time for people to stop looking backward,” he said.


The newcomer to the mayoral race says he’s not worried about the other candidates and says he represents innovation. His plan for the city, he says, is trilateral: a war on poverty, corruption and crime according to him, all go hand in hand.
